Internship 1: Omni Visions INC, 2021
In January 2021, I had the opportunity to take my first internship with Putnam County/Cookeville Omni Visions, INC. In this position I was granted the ability to do more than 125 hours in working and learning alongside multiple Case Managers, Supervisors, Team Leads, and Administrative Assistants. I was able to use the skills I had learned from my education to be an asset to this company as well as learn from those in the field regarding the reality that is the work in Family Preservation. I was able to learn and have access to all the software and case notes as well as assist in taking case notes at home visits. This was an experience that allowed myself to develop new skills and knowledge as well as develop ties and colleagues within this agency and other agencies that are worked in partnership with. This position did lead to a potential job offer upon graduation, in which I did turn down as this agency was not the agency was not a fit for me; however, the experience that I was granted has continually assisted in the way in which I continue my education and the search for the right career opportunity for myself. This position also allowed myself to gain the knowledge regarding which agency I would like to strive to achieve an internship with and potentially a career with in the future.
Internship 2: Department of Children's Services, 2023
In January 2023, I was given another opportunity for a second internship in which I also completed more than 125 hours in and was also given the opportunity to interview for a position with the team in which I was interning with. I was an intern for Sparta/ White County office for the Rapid Response CPS Team which was Lead by Mary Beth Williams. I was able to assist and learn under all the team members of her team as well as other teams and counties. I was present in home visits, referrals, court hearing, etc. I was able to conduct a child interview and assist in writing notes while interviews with ACV's (Alleged Child Victims) and Perpetrators. This experience has been of great benefit for my growth in the social welfare field and into my professional development. This position also allowed me to become familiar with other agencies who work with The Department such as local Law Enforcement and The Child Advocacy Center. Towards the end of this intern position, I was encouraged to interview for a position within this team, in which I have since been offered and accepted the position to begin June 2023!
